Recently, CETMA’s team of Director’s has been expanding greatly. Firstly, with the appointment of Orianna Evans as a director in January, and in March another new addition was made with Elian Williams being added to the team of directors.

Elian has been with CETMA for many years, first becoming part of the team through a work placement with Job Force Wales in 2019 just months after he left Sixth Form to do IT support through what was the Junction 49 project at the time. Elian had two stints of work placement with CETMA in his time with Job Force Wales, and when his time with Job Force came to an end, Elian stayed with CETMA to continue his development, work within IT.

Following this, he also did an apprenticeship with CETMA through ITEC and obtained a Level 3 qualification in IT, Media & Telecoms Professions. This led to Elian being assigned as CETMA’s Digital Inclusion Project Co-ordinator where he would oversee CETMA’s handling of various Digital projects, for example on the HMCTS Courts Contract allowing CETMA to support people with various online government appeal/application forms (e.g. PIP/UC Appeals, Divorce, the Single Justice Service etc).

When CETMA expanded into Swansea, Elian was entrusted to be the Swansea Office’s manager, so most of his time is spent in Swansea supporting that community and further building CETMA’s reputation outside of Carmarthenshire as an invaluable organisation supporting so many people every year. As well as this, as one of the only two fluent Welsh speakers in the organisation, Elian is often the go to person for any translation work needed for any marketing/news articles or anything else needs to be translated so there is bi-lingual coverage in both English & Welsh.

When asked about his journey with CETMA, leading up to becoming a director, Elian said:

“I’ve learned so much in my time with CETMA. At one point or another I have worked on so many of the different projects & done so many different tasks as part of CETMA. I’ve seen first-hand just how valuable the work CETMA does is to the communities it supports, and I’m honoured to be able to play such a big part in carrying out CETMA’s goals.”

“I’ve now been with CETMA for coming up to 6 years, and I’ve developed so much not only in my personal skills, but developed so much as a person in my time with CETMA and I hope I can continue to grow alongside CETMA for a long time to come on a whole new level now I am part of the team of Directors alongside Jonathan, Keith & Orianna.

My passion for supporting communities/people in need aligns perfectly with CETMA’s values which is another reason why I’m so proud to be able to support CETMA in continuing to offer these lines of support to people who need them most” Elian added.

When asked for his perspective of Elian’s journey with CETMA, another of the directors, Keith Evans-Hurley added:

“Elian has come so far from the person he was when he first walked through the doors. Having seen his journey from worrying on his first week with us that he had broken the printer to the person he is now has been extraordinary. He has a level of compassion for CETMA’s community driven work that has not gone unnoticed which is why we are thrilled to welcome Elian on as one of the directors to shape the future of CETMA.”
