This year, all three of CETMA’s sites are joining Get Online Week, a national campaign run by the Good Things Foundation. The goal of this campaign is to help thousands of people feel more confident using the internet and to show them the many benefits of being online. As our world becomes more digital every day, having these skills is more important than ever.
Research from the Good Things Foundation shows that 90% of today’s jobs are advertised online. Yet more than one in four people say they don’t feel confident using the internet when looking for work. The same research found that shopping online can save the average person £3.29 per purchase, but one in ten people are still unsure about managing their money online.
CETMA’s sites in Llanelli, Kidwelly, and Swansea are here to help. Anyone who wants to learn more about using the internet can visit and speak to a qualified Digital Inclusion Officer. Support is available on a wide range of topics, including online banking, using the NHS App, and job searching.
Elian Williams, CETMA’s Digital Inclusion Officer, shared:
“Being able to use the internet is more important than ever. There are so many benefits, and we know that many people think it’s harder than it really is. By taking part in Get Online Week, we hope to help more people in our community get connected and enjoy those benefits.”
Elian added:
“Everyone has to start somewhere. Once you take that first step, you’ll see that using the internet is simple. It can help you save money, find work more easily, and make everyday life much easier.”
