CETMA Swansea’s 50+ Support Project: A Memorable Visit to Swansea Museum

1000005019

CETMA Swansea recently celebrated a milestone in its 50+ Support Project with the first of it’s Wellbeing trips to Swansea Museum. The outing gave participants the chance to step back in time and explore fascinating heritage of Swansea and beyond, while also enjoying the warmth and companionship of fellow attendees.

A Day of Discovery and Connection

The museum’s exhibits offered something for everyone — from ancient artefacts to stories of Wartime and several other different periods through history. Attendees commented on how the displays led to lively conversations in the Museum & afterwards during a shared hot drink/snack back in the Swansea office. The visit was not just about learning history, but about connecting with the community and finding joy in shared experiences.

The atmosphere throughout the trip was one of curiosity and camaraderie. Participants valued the opportunity to spend time together in a supportive environment, where friendships could grow and new interests could be discovered. The trip highlighted the importance of cultural outings in promoting wellbeing, especially for those in the 50+ age group.

Looking Ahead: More Adventures to Come

The Swansea Museum visit is just the beginning of a series of exciting excursions planned by CETMA Swansea. Each trip has been carefully chosen to showcase the beauty, history, and culture of the local area, while continuing to build connections among participants. Upcoming dates include:

  • December 17th – Clyne Gardens
  • January 14th – Penllergare Valley Woods
  • January 28th – Gower Heritage Centre
  • February 4th – Dylan Thomas Centre
  • February 18th – Plantasia

These outings promise a mix of nature & heritage. This offers something for everyone who wants to explore Swansea and beyond in good company.

When asked about the project, CETMA Swansea Office Manager, Elian Williams said:

“CETMA has vast experience hosting these kinds of wellbeing trips. And we’ve seen first hand just how valuable they can be for improving one’s physical & mental wellbeing. So we invite anyone 50+ who wishes to explore some of the most enriching places Swansea has to offer to get in touch & book a space to any of the free trips on offer or to attend any of the Warm Hub indoor sessions. And if you know anyone who might be interested, feel free to spread the word.”
