CETMA Swansea is proud to announce that it has been awarded funding through Swansea Council’s Winter Wellbeing Grant for 2025. A portion of this funding will support the COAST 50+ Programme, which offers free or funded activities for individuals aged 50 and above.
As part of this initiative, CETMA Swansea will host six organised trips to heritage and nature destinations across Swansea. The trips will begin in December 2025 and continue every two weeks until the end of February 2026.
Between excursions, participants will be invited to attend indoor group sessions at CETMA Swansea’s office. These sessions will provide an opportunity to share experiences from previous outings, plan future visits, and enjoy presentations about the next destination’s history and significance.
The planned destinations include:
- Plantasia
- Swansea Museum
- Clyne Gardens
- Swansea Bus Museum
- Penllergare Valley Woods
- Gower Heritage Centre
Speaking about the initiative, Elian Williams, CETMA Swansea Office Manager, said:
“CETMA has extensive experience in hosting community trips and group activities. We’ve seen first-hand how much these experiences can enhance wellbeing and reduce social isolation. This funding allows us to continue providing meaningful opportunities for those aged 50 and over within the Swansea community.”
Williams added:
“We wanted to ensure a healthy balance of indoor and outdoor locations. Research and our own experience show that connecting with nature has a significant positive impact on mental and physical wellbeing. We believe this mix will offer the greatest benefit to our participants.”
All trips and group sessions are free of charge for participants aged 50 and over. Transport will be provided from the CETMA Swansea Office to each location and back, ensuring accessibility for all attendees.
