Have you checked your plugs recently, millions of households and businesses are at risk of fire or even electric shocks.

Recently one of our staff members Emyr was out doing a PAT testing session for a client where he came across a few items with this clover leaf plug, Emyr explained to the client that the plug could not be tested and also explained the dangers of the plug, information regarding the plug was emailed to the client with a link provided from the charity Electrical Safety First.

The main issue with a clover leaf plug is these have no fuses, which are a hazardous risk that could cause electric shocks and fires.

We urge people to check where they get items from, as electrical items could be picked up from online stores like Amazon or even eBay, facebook marketplace is another place to be very wary of buying electrical items.

Clover leaf plugs are small in size shaped like a clover leaf hence the name, these do not meet the legal requirements of a plug to be sold in the UK, these have been found on items including e-bikes, e-scooters, hair straighteners and chargers amongst other items.

Our advice, as well as advice from the charity electrical safety first is to stop using it immediately, also ensure that your plug has a fuse so it can cut out in case of a fault.
